The Rachel Carson Reserve (Carrot Island, Town Marsh, Bird Shoal, Horse Island, and Middle Marshes) is part of the NC Coastal Reserve and National Estuarine Research Reserve System. Summer field trips take place from 8:30-10:30 each morning from mid-June through the end of August. Field trips are free, however donations will be accepted. Reservations are required - call 252-838-0883.
