Island Ferry Adventures

Island Ferry Adventures is located on the Beaufort waterfront across from the Inlet Inn. This passenger ferry service operates from late March to mid-October, 7 days a week beginning at 9 AM, weather permitting, with departures to Shackelford Banks, Carrot Island, Sand Dollar Island and Bird Shoals.
The 1-1/4 hour "stay on the boat" Horse and Waterfront Cruise departs at 10 AM and at 1:15 PM. The 1-1/2 hour Surf and Turf cruise departs at 11:30 AM and at 2:45 PM. On this trip, passengers stay on the boat for one hour and then spend 30 minutes on Shackelford Banks. These two scenic tours operate approximately from June through August. Private charters are also available.

Steve Bishop captains Lookout, a 45-foot catamaran that can hold 42 passengers. The vessel operates public tours on a regular schedule from April 1 through November 30 and is available year round for special charters such as parties, birthdays and anniversaries.
The regularly scheduled early morning, two-hour dolphin watch is very popular with children and families; the trip is a smooth ride up the Newport River. If you want to swim, snorkel and look for shells, try the six-hour trip to Cape Lookout. This trip leaves the dock at noon and offers catered lunch, snacks, fresh fruit, shell bags and complimentary beverages. At the end the day, board the Lookout for a relaxing, 90-minute sunset cruise tailored for adults with complimentary beverages. It is always best to call ahead to book a cruise on this popular vessel.

Summer Field Trips
The Rachel Carson Reserve (Carrot Island, Town Marsh, Bird Shoal, Horse Island, and Middle Marshes) is part of the NC Coastal Reserve and National Estuarine Research Reserve System.
Tours take place from 8:30-10:30 each morning from mid-June through the end of August. Field trips are free, however donations will be accepted. See Summer Field Trips.
